As an IB PYP Candidate school, Pendleton provides an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that promotes advanced learning opportunities in students.


English Language Arts instruction occurs through Reading and Writing Workshop, which provides scholars with a minilesson, independent work time, conferencing, mid-workshop teaching points and an opportunity for scholars to share.


Mathematics instruction occurs through Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), which is a student-centered approach to teaching math. We begin with what our scholars know and build on their natural number sense and intuitive approaches to problem solving. 


Through our instructional practices, our scholars are placed in the driver's seat and gives them voice and choice in their learning.
